SHEFFIELD United have signed striker Darius Henderson from Coca-Cola Championship rivals Watford for £2m.

He joins the Blades as a direct replacement for Rob Hulse, who joined Derby County this week for £1.75m.

Henderson, 26, has signed a four-year contract and the fee could rise depending on his achievements at Bramall Lane.

Doncaster-born Henderson said: "This is a great move for me, coming back home. I've met the lads and there is quality in abundance here."

Signing Henderson finally ends a determined pursuit by Blades manager Kevin Blackwell, who has long been an admirer.

"I'm delighted to finally get Darius," said Blackwell. "I've tracked him for a while and he was No 1 in my mind to replace Rob Hulse.

"Darius knows what the Championship is about, he will fit straight into the Blades ethos."
