THE Millers fought through dreadful conditions to keep their promotion push on track with another late show at rain-lashed Torquay.

Just a week after bagging a stoppage-time winner at Port Vale, Ronnie Moore's side struck twice in the closing minutes to clinch a third successive away win.

Kevin Ellison drilled home from close range on 84 minutes and the prolific Adam Le Fondre lobbed his 12th of the season in stoppage time as Rotherham overcame severe pressure.

Boosted by new loan signings Adam Smith from Spurs and Chris Zebroski from Wycombe, Torquay adapted more quickly to the driving wind and rain but found centre-backs Ian Sharps and Nick Fenton and goalkeeper Andy Warrington in excellent form.

Warrington kept his side in it with second-half saves from Tim Sills and Jake Thomas but was relieved to see Wayne Carlisle's effort rattle the bar just moments after Ellison had got the breatkthrough.

Millers chief Moore said: "We never got going until the latter stages but give us full marks for hanging in there. It's three points and we keep ticking over."

Moore also handed a debut to former Crewe and Yeovil man Gary Roberts and the midfielder made a good late cameo appearance as a substitute and had an assist in Ellison's goal.

The new man added: "They were bad conditions but we did what we had to do. We rode our luck a bit but we grafted and took our chances."
