STANLEY GENE has agreed a new one-year contract with Hull Kingston Rovers, the club he first joined after the World Cup in 1995.
Gene, who will play in a third World Cup for Papua New Guinea next month, had faced an uncertain future after being reclassified as an overseas player but has taken advantage of a relaxation of the new regulations to continue his remarkable career in England.

"I love rugby league and I love this club," said Gene, who rejoined Rovers last year after spells with Hull, Huddersfield and Bradford.

Rovers have also confirmed the capture of Wigan Warriors winger Liam Colbon on a two-year contract.
