HULL City manager Phil Brown is stepping up his bid to recruit foreign talent ahead of the new Premier League season.

Wolves midfielder Seyi Olofinjana, former Manchester City striker Emile Mpenze, and South African winger Delron Buckley are the latest targets for Brown, who is also chasing Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng, Brazilian international Geovanni an
d French defender Bernard Mendy.

Brown has confirmed that he will be lodging a bid for Nigerian international Olofinjana, 28, who joined Wolves four years ago in a £1.7m deal from Norwegian club SK Brann Bergen.

Mpenze and Buckley have joined the Tigers for pre-season training in the Italian Alps and Geovanni and Mendy are expected to agree terms this weekend. Dutch international Boateng is considering his options after talks with Brown in midweek.

Mpenze is available on a free transfer while Buckley, 30, has a get-out clause, subject to a certain fee, in his contract with German club Borussia Dortmund.

Striker Michael Bridges is set to leave the KC Stadium after being omitted from the Italy party.

Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate has backed new recruit Marvin Emnes to make a major impact in England after beating Ajax and Feyenoord to his signature. Boro have clinched a £3.2m deal for the 20-year-old Sparta Rotterdam player and have signed France Under-21 midfielder Didier Digard from Paris St Germain for just over £4m.

Huddersfield Town have re-signed defender Chris Lucketti – seven years after his last appearance for the club.

Lucketti, 36, has quit Sheffield United to sign a two-year deal at the Galpharm Stadium. He played previously under Town manager Stan Ternent at Bury.

Winger Danny Schofield, who rejected the opportunity to stay with Town, has signed a two-year deal with rivals Yeovil.

Town manager Ternent has appointed former Burnley physio Ian Liversedge as a replacement for Lee Martin.

Liversedge spent five years with Ternent at Turf Moor and has also worked for Newcastle, Oldham and Manchester United.

Doncaster Rovers midfielders Mark Wilson and Craig Nelthorpe have signed new deals at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The pair were the last of the club's out-of-contract players to make decisions on their futures.

Turkish club Galatasaray claim they have signed former Leeds United winger Harry Kewell – although the Australian's agent Bernie Mandic insists the deal has not been completed. Kewell, who quit Leeds in a £5m deal five years ago, was released by Liverpool.

Leeds will play Belgian side FCV Dender rather than Sporting Lokeren in a friendly at Elland Road on Saturday, August 2.

Former York City manager Billy McEwan is the new manager of Mansfield Town following the sacking of Paul Holland.
