BARNSLEY have snapped up Norwich City striker Jamie Cureton on an emergency three-month loan deal.
Simon Davey concluded the deal this afternoon for the 33-year-old, just beating the 5pm deadline to enable Cureton to be involved in Saturday's match with Nottingham Forest.
The former Bristol Rovers, Reading and Colchester striker was also a target for Doncaster Rovers.
Reds boss Davey said: "We have lost Iain (Hume) and our thoughts go out to him, but we need to ensure we have the firepower to maintain our excellent run.
"Jamie is a player I have admired for a long time and has a fantastic goalscoring record."
Leeds United have been given permission to talk to Hull City defender Wayne Brown.
The 30-year-old, who is currently on loan at Preston North End in the Championship, will arrive at Elland Road for talks about a prospective deal with Gary McAllister's League One promotion hopefuls.
Meanwhile, Bradford City have snapped up Burnley winger Steve Jones on loan until the new year.
The Northern Ireland international goes straight into the squad for Saturday's FA Cup tie with Leyton Orient.
