After a long summer - not even England to quench our thirst for disappointment - the new Football League season is here.
Birmingham City 1 (Phillips 90) Sheffield United 0

FT Sheffield Wednesday 4 (Tudgay 1, 63, Sodje 3, 15) Burnley 1 (Paterson 6)

FT QPR 2 (Hall 29, 31) Barnsley 1 (Hume 5)

FT Derby County 0 Doncaster Rovers 1 (Guy 59)

FT Scunthorpe 1 (Hooper 57) Leeds United 2 (Showunmi 61, Beckford 80)

FT Huddersfield Town 1 (Booth 30) Stockport 1 (Rowe 45)

FT Bradford City 2 (Thorne 21, 61) Notts County 1 (Butcher 73)

FT Rotherham United 1 (Reid 44) Lincoln City 0

FT Crawley Town 0 York City 1 (Farrell 71)

12.00 - So here we are and Leeds United get the chance to go top of the League - ok I know that's silly, but with a noon kick-off United at Scunthorpe is the day's first offering.

12.15 - Team news from St Andrews, Kevin Blackwell gives Sheffield United debuts to Halford, Henderson and Jihai.

12.30 - It's a bit frenetic at Glanford Park, Jermaine Beckford walloped one over the crossbar. And the Whites were left sweating when Izzy Iriekpen headed home a Grant McCann free kick, only for the 'goal' to be ruled out for offside.

12.45: Snodgrass was robbed of a goal at Scunny. His effort looked like it crossed the line, but the linesman thought otherwise. No night out for him in Leeds any time soon, I suggest.

12.55 - Not much goal action at St Andrews. Henderson and Sharp look like they are still getting used to playing together.

1.05 - Leeds started the second half feeling quite aggrieved and Beckford and Shunmi both had good chances to make amends.

1.20 - Birmingham are on top against the Blades, former Lane favourite Marcus Bent - hasn't this guy been around forever? - missing out on James McFadden's cute chip.

1.30 - You wait an hour for a goal and two come at once. It's 1-1 at Scunny. Hooper netted first for the Iron, before Showunmi - who joined from Bristol City in the summer - opened his Leeds account with a header.

1.35 - HT at St Andrews. 0-0. Defences on top then? All we are singing is give us a goal...

1.50 - Beckford is Leeds goal hero, pouncing with just 10 minutes left at Scunthorpe. Cue all those pot-bellied blokes taking their shirts off.

1.55 - Three points for Leeds and Gary McAllister is off to a winning start in League One. Still no sign of a goal at St Andrews though, the Blades look very lacklustre since the restart.

2.10 - Kevin Phillips comes on for Birmingham as a substitute. He is one of the best strikers outside the Premier League in my opinion, and an astute signing by the Blues.

2.50 - Agony for the Blades. A battling display comes to nothing and it's that man Phillips who nicks it in injury time. Wish I could say I didn't warn you....

2.55 - James O'Connor makes his Sheffield Wednesday debut for the Owls against Burnley. Loan signing Jimmy Smith is on the bench.

3.01 - Marcus Tudgay scores within the first minute at Hillsborough. Wednesday top of the League?

3.03 - You are not going to believe this. 2-0 to Wednesday inside three minutes. I must be dreaming. Akpo Sodje returns for the first time since January and nets inside a couple of minutes.

3.05 - Dreaming over. Martin Paterson scores on his Burnley debut in front of the Kop to make it 2-1. Looks like there's not been too much work on the training ground when it comes to defences.

3.15 - They might be rich at QPR, but they are losing to Barnsley thanks to a debut goal from Iain Hume, while at Hillsborough Sodje gets his second to make it 3-1 to Wednesday.

3.25: Peter Thorne gets Valley Parade rocking, as the striker puts Bradford City 1-0 up against Notts County.

3.35 - Oops. Fitz Hall has scored twice inside three minutes for QPR against the Tykes. Shatters my romantic view of football, but then comes along veteran Andy Booth to net for Huddersfield Town against Stockport. Top man, top footballer... and not a bad cricketer!!!

3.44 - Can you hear Don Valley singing? Ruben Reid has just netted for Rotherham United at their new home in the serene setting of Don Valley athletic stadium. 1-0 to the Millers against Lincoln.

3.46 - Rowe equalises for Stockport at the Galpharm. Makes Stan Ternent's half-time team talk a lot harder now.

4.05: Halftime cuppa downed. Right where's the first goal of the second half coming from? Since Sodje went off, chances have disappeared too at Hillsborough.

4.20 - Well it came at Valley Parade. Thorne grabbed his second to double Bradford's advantage against Notts County. A let off for Barnsley, Hall missed a 59th minute penalty for QPR.

4.23 - Doncaster fans read it and smile. Lewis Guy has netted against Derby County to put Rovers 1-0 up against the former Premier League side. Tudgay adds a fourth for the Owls at Hillsborough.

4.35 - Cheers from the Minster, as Farrell scores York's opening goal of the season, to lead 1-0 at Crawley after 71 minutes.

4.37 - Ade Akinbyi comes on for Burnley at Hillsborough. After getting stick all afternoon from Owls fans for his spell across the city, I'm sure the last place he wants to be is out on the pitch with his side losing 4-1. Ade, Ade what's the score?

4.50 - The full time whistles are blowing... can Rovers hang on at Derby?

4.55 - Great wins for Bradford, Wednesday, York, Rotherham and the mighty Rovers. Easy this Championship lark hey Donny? Well done.

5.00 - Well that's not a bad afternoon for our Yorkshire sides, just 45 more games to go until the end of the season.
