IT'S the final weekend of the football season and Leeds United have already secured their play-off spot but have their fingers crossed they will get a positive outcome at the arbitration hearing.
Here, an ex-player, a fan and Yorkshire Post football writer Richard Sutcliffe give their verdict.

Ex-player: Peter Swan (1984-1989)

Obviously, the fans are hoping the points decision goes in their favour, but if it doesn't then I still fancy Leeds to go up. Gary McAllister has got his team playing well at just the right time, but I think the biggest factor will be the fans.

Attracting crowds like Leeds have this season can work against a club, but the players have learned to use it to their advantage. I don't think it matters who Leeds get in the play-offs, the players fancy their chances against anyone.

Fan's view: Paul Taylor, Doncaster

Generally, I am pleased with the way things have panned out in the last few months and am impressed with what I have seen of Gary McAllister, especially as he has been operating with Dennis Wise's squad. The play-offs are a complete lottery and we are just as capable as anyone of making a mess of it.

But I am not bothered who we face, though Carlisle look in the worst state after throwing away automatic promotion. I think it will be a Leeds United v Nottingham Forest final.

Yorkshire Post Verdict: Richard Sutcliffe

The momentum is clearly with Leeds after a run of five wins and one defeat in the last eight games. It means that no matter what happens with the club's points appeal, which will be concluded this week, only Southend of United's promotion rivals boast a better points tally in the past six weeks.

Leeds will, barring a successful arbitration verdict, be at home in the first leg when a hostile Elland Road crowd, still angry at the perceived injustice of the points deduction, could be a big factor.
