Did you know...
  • Just through walking the Leeds 10k, the average person will lose 330 calories, equivalent to a bottle of champagne.


  • By running the Leeds 10k at average speed of 7mph (jogging pace) the average person will lose 550 calories, that's over 7 pints of lager.


  • In total, the expected 10,000 people who will take part in the race will burn a total of 4,400,000 calories*, equal to 8,900 Big Mac burgers or 41,410 Kit Kats or more than 33,000 bags of ready salted crisps!


  • If each athlete drinks the recommended amount of liquid, they will sweat an average of 25oz of body fluid during the race - three cups each.


  • In total, the competitors will lose 1,950 gallons of body fluid. That's enough to fill 67 bath tubs!


  • If 10,000 people take 60 minutes each to complete the Leeds 10k, it's the same as one person running continuously for 417 days.

  • First past the finish line for the inaugural Leeds 10k were David Cowlishaw, with a time of 33:28, and Olympic narathon runner Tracey Morris for the women's field at 34:43.
