From: Peter A Rushforth, Sutton Drive, Cullingworth.

QUITE rightly, Kenneth H Chappell (Letters, Yorkshire Post, August 29), praises the Swiss and suggests we take a leaf out of their book. The Swiss have been very smart by staying out of the two World Wars while maintaining friendly contact with the opposing sides. They have also been wise enough to keep out of the EU and so are not governed by laws made in Brussels as we are.
Yes, we should exit from the EU, make our own laws, control immigration and offer off-shore banking for the people of the EU as Switzerland has done.

Some people suggest we would lose trade but that is nonsense.

If we produce the goods they require, they will happily buy from us. Likewise, if there are goods we need from them they will certainly supply them.

If Switzerland can exist successfully on its own two feet, we can for sure.
