Preview: Bradford litfest
Founded in 2014 by Syima Aslam and Irna Qureshi, the festival has quickly grown over the past three years to become one of the most aniticipated literary festivals in the country.
There are over 300 events to choose from with a thread of interesting themes running through such as gender politics, world affairs, eithis and faith, history, myth and legend and classic literature.

Hide AdDebate is very much at the heart of the festival with authors, politicians, scientists and experts across a range of specialist areas coming together to discuss the big issues of the day. Speakers include poet acclaimed Jackie Kay, the current Scottish Mackar, novelist Jeanette Winterson, feminist icon Germaine Greer, Indian politician and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor, Guardian journalist Gary Younge and dub poet Linton Kwesi Johnson. Best-selling author Joanna Trollope will be talking about her latest novel City of Friends and also her 21st century updating of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility.
Events will be taking place across the city with venues including City Hall, the University of Bradford, Waterstones bookshop and the Midland Hotel. There will also be a number of free family activities held in City Park.
