Chef who served at Palace ends up at The Queens
QUALITY chef Kevin Connor certainly has the royal seal of approval.
The chef used to work for the Queen at Buckingham Palace. But now he has taken a new job as head chef at The Queens Hotel in Leeds.
During his time at the palace, Mr Connor served up state banquets for up to 500 people and prepared Her Majesty’s tea.
He said: “Creating delicious food for guests is my passion.
“My personal favourite is classic English food such as grilled fillet steak cooked rare, with fat chips, fresh vegetables and béarnaise sauce.”
Mr Connor has more than 15 years’ experience in the industry and has training in classic French cooking techniques.
He has also spent four years working as an executive head chef at the prestigious Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London.
He said: “I can’t wait for the challenge at The Queens.
“I love working with a close-knit team and I have found everyone there very friendly and welcoming.”
Ivar Van Diepen is the general manager at The Queens Hotel.
He said: “It is such an exciting time for us to welcome a chef who has previously worked for the most famous family in Britain.
“Kevin sets extremely high standards and has a clear passion for cooking.
The chef is also keen to take part in an apprenticeship scheme so that he can help train up young chefs wanting to follow in his footsteps.
He added: “I am also hoping to get the opportunity to be part of QHotels’ apprenticeship scheme and be able to work with young chefs and help to contribute towards their future in the industry.”
