Parish council backs residents’ eviction stand
RESIDENTS fighting eviction from their retirement homes near Beverley have been backed by parish councillors.
Woodmansey Parish Council voted unanimously to support an application by the owners of Lakeminster Park that would let 130 mainly elderly residents continue living there, all year round.
East Riding Council started enforcement action last year after telling residents that the bungalows, built on what used to be a caravan site, were only for holidays.
Resident Dave Foulstone said: “The reaction from everyone is that people on Lakeminster have suffered enough.”
The council’s planning committee will have the final say later this year.
