They are a mixed bunch, which is exactly what Katch Skinner wanted when she asked family, friends and Facebook followers which great British women she should commemorate in clay.

Even now, her ground-breaking Calyx fabric, which featured at the Festival of Britain in 1951, looks bold, fresh and exciting.
