Bradford takes Barbara Windsor to its bosom with a lifetime achievement award

Barbara Windsor, who played Britain’s most famous landlady, Peggy Mitchell, in EastEnders, is to be honoured at this year’s Bradford International Film Festival.
The actress, also known for her roles in the Carry On films, will receive a lifetime achievement award and acclaimed French film director, Olivier Assayas, will receive a fellowship award.
Tom Vincent, festival co-director said: “Barbara Windsor has been an irrepressible presence on film, television, stage and the radio for over fifty years.
The Festival will also show two of the actresses 1960s comedies: Carry on Spying and Crooks in Cloisters and she will be in Bradford to take part in a Screentalk, on Friday, April 20, before a screening of Sparrers Can’t Sing.
The 18th Bradford International Film Festival, in partnership with Virgin Media, takes place between April 19-29.
