You can be a golden glow winner
At Hollywood's Golden Globes a fresh new look could be seen on the red carpet. Stephanie Smith has tips on how to follow the stars.
The Golden Globes earlier this week demonstrated that there is a new modern freshness and wearability about high glamour make-up, bringing soft yet vibrant new colour to cheeks, eyes and lips for a look that is picture perfect on younger stars like Drew Barrymore, or brings a youthful bloom to more mature faces, like Meryl Streep.
"Hollywood is the birthplace of fantasy and dreams," says designer Michael Kors, who had created the gorgeous new Very Hollywood Color Collection, below, for Este Lauder, epitomising iconic Hollywood glamour but interpreted for everyday life.
There are two modern-classic looks: Bel Air Beige, a beige and coral palette of shimmery peach lips and cheeks and smokey eyes; and Rodeo Pink with vibrant new shades in raspberry tones of bright, bold lips and cheeks and a defined eye. Both colour palettes feature coordinating shades of blush (23), eyeshadow duo (22), eye pencil (15), lip sheen SPF15 (17), lip gloss (16)and nail lacquer (12). To create a soft sheen for beautiful luminous red carpet skin, try the Very Hollywood Shimmering Loose Powder (26), all over the face or highlight eyes, cheeks and dcolletage. Hollywood hair on the red carpet was a combination of sleek up-dos and semi-swept back styles, and more mature hair benefits from products that make it thicker and easier to work with. The Golden Globes were damp and rainy, a challenge for any hairstyle, let alone a red carpet one.
