Bainbridge meets the Brontes
DRAWING from genres and experiences - her Liverpool childhood, travel and historical characters, Dame Beryl Bainbridge has carved a unique literary life.
Her work has retold the Titanic story (Every Man For Himself), the Scott polar expedition (The Birthday Boys) and the Crimean (Master Georgie), all the time building acclaim and an increasingly engaged audience.
The Lancashire-born author is here captured in conversation at the Bronte Weekend in Haworth where she speaks about her early years, travel in America and intriguing new work uniting Robert F Kennedy and a girl in a polka dot dress.
