Exclusive podcast: Still Bleeding - Steve Mosby
STEVE Mosby. Remember the name. . . Mosby. Got it? Good, because it's one you'll doubtless be recommending to your friends if they like crime fiction at its most dark and unflinching.
After two books that straddled the line between crime and science fiction, the Leeds writer moved confidently away from sci-fi into the darker side of the crime genre with his third novel, The 50/50 Killer.
His fifth, Still Bleeding, delves the depths even further, taking his lead characters into a hidden world where the value of life is measured only by the reaction of those who will pay to relive its final moments.
In this OutLoud interview, Mosby discusses why he's drawn to the dark side of human nature, the trade in murderabilia, and why he has no excuses for killing off so many fictional girlfriends.

Mosby grew up in Leeds and comforted himself through his less auspicious moments at school and university with the self-knowledge he was going to be a writer.
Having started to hone his skills at an early age, he continued on his course after graduation, working during the day at the University of Leeds and writing in his evenings.
His single-mindedness paid off with a publishing deal with Orion in 2003 for his debut novel, The Third Person.
The Cutting Crew followed in 2005, with The 50/50 Killer in 2007, and Cry for Help in 2008.
Still Bleeding, 18.99, is out now in hardback and paperback, 10.99, published by Orion, ISBN 978-1409101086.
Mosby, 32, is married and lives in Leeds where he now writes full time. He will be at the 2009 Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate from July 23 to 26. For details of our coverage this year, visit www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/crimewriting >>
