Porcupine Ridge Sauvignon Blanc 2008, South Africa, Sainsbury, down from 6.99 to 4.99 until July 7. From Marc Kent at Boekenhoutskoof, this is a soft, tropical fruit style of Sauvignon, backed by a streak of zesty citrus flavours.
D'Arenberg The Hermit Crab, 2007, McLaren Vale, South Australia, Waitrose down from 8.99 to 6.74 until June 30. A super summer wine that is worth its full price just for the unusual blend, but well worth a punt while it is on offer. Full of the flavours of ripe pears and apricots.
Bonterra Ros 2008, Mendocino, California, Waitrose, down from 9.99 to 6.99 until June 30. Made from organic grapes this blend of Sangiovese, Zinfandel and Grenache is packed with lively cherry and strawberry fruit. Slightly challenged at its full price, it is well worth buying while it is on offer.
Mayor de Castilla, 2006, Ribera del Duero, Spain, Sainsbury, down from 6.99 to 4.65 until July 7. Wines from Ribera are often over-priced but this one is good, even at its full price. Ripe, spice-edged blackberry fruit with ripe, soft tannins. Good enough for the
Sunday roast.
