The Spa Decameron - Fay Weldon
The Spa Decameron is a sparkling, compassionate (and occasionally libidinous) new novel from the author of The Life and Loves of a She-Devil, which echoes Boccaccio's medieval Decameron.
In this programme, produced in association with the Ilkley Literature Festival, she talks about the new work and about her future plans.

Fay Weldon was born in 1931. Her father was a doctor and her mother a writer of commercial fiction under the pen name Pearl Bellairs.
Briefly married in her early twenties to a man more than 20 years her senior, she worked on the problem page of the Daily Mirror and then as an advertising copywriter, famously creating the slogan 'Go to work on an egg'.
During the last 30 years she has published more than 20 novels, collections of short stories, television movies, newspaper and magazine articles and become a familiar face and voice on the BBC.
In October 2002 she was named the first writer-in-residence at The Savoy Hotel in London.
