ORGANISERS of a football match which aims to raise money for the struggling Doncaster Belles ladies' football team said the day would go ahead, despite a change in the team's fixtures.

Managers at the Belles are currently facing financial difficulties, and have made several appeals for cash. Sunday's event at the Keepmoat Stadium was supposed to feature the team in a centrepiece game.

But the FA Tesco Premier League home fixture against Birmingham City has now been postponed, meaning that the first team will have to play an away match against Nottingham Forest.

A spokesman said negotiations had taken place with the Nottingham team which had agreed to kick off the match at 10.30am, allowing the Belles to return to Doncaster for part of the fund-raising event.

Sunday's programme also includes a match between the Championship men's side and a team made up of Doncaster Rovers Legends, which is due to kick off at 2.30pm.

The legends team will include Sir Francis Tierney, Paul Barnes and Tris Whitman and one fan is being offered the chance to help manage the team alongside former Doncaster manager Neil Snodin.
