SOME of the region's leading chefs have been cooking up a treat for visitors to Hull in the city's first YUM! food and drink festival.
Tim Bell, head chef at Cerutti's fish restaurant in Nelson Street, was first up and showed what can be done in a busy kitchen by preparing five dishes in 45 minutes.

His offerings of lobster, crab, monkfish, halibut and king scallops were all locally caught from sustainable fisheries.

Commentary was given by BBC TV's Hairy Biker food specialist and local chef Gerard Baker.

"We have many excellent restaurants and café bars and excellent chefs to go in them and we wanted to allow them to demonstrate what they can do."

The three-day festival started yesterday and features a range of events including a continental market in King Edward Street and Jameson Street.

On Saturday in the Chef's Theatre, on Princes Dock Side, Jamie Parks from the Pipe and Glass and Roger Nowell, from Tickton Grange, will compete for the Young Chef of the Year title.
