A MARKETING campaign was announced yesterday to bring in more than £100,000 as York is promoted as a destination for family reunions.
Tourism leaders hope to generate 600 online bookings through the See You In York initiative which is being marketed across the internet on social networking sites including Twitter and Facebook.

The promotion is being overseen by the city's tourism partnership, Visit York, and is hoping to attract families from Scotland, the Midlands and the North-West.

Visit York's marketing manager, Kate McMullen, said: "See You In York is about positioning York as the ideal location for the fast growing meeting friends and relatives (MFR) market."

The See You In York campaign is running until the end of March and aims to generate £120,000 in revenue for hotels, restaurants and shops.
