A flagship residential development with room to park a yacht outside is nearing completion in Hull.

Developers expect to unveil Freedom Quay, with its spectacular views of the Humber estuary, by the end of the summer.

The waterfront complex of 52 apartments features what could be the city's most expensive penthouse – a fifth-floor, three-bedroom property believed to be worth £500,000.

The 1,259 sq ft suite includes a huge decked terrace, two private parking spaces, a private lobby as well as the opportunity for a private mooring, but is only a five-minute walk from the city centre.

A total of 38 apartments in the development have been sold, although a buyer has yet to be found for the penthouse.

John Holmes, chief executive of economic development company Hull Forward, said: "We are delighted to see the progress at Freedom Quay, which will undoubtedly be one of the city's most prestigious addresses on its completion later this year. It plays a vital role in the continuing development of Humber Quays, which is now rapidly taking shape, changing the face of Hull's magnificent waterfront; reconnecting it to the heart of the city and creating a prime business location.

"The fact that so many of the apartments have been sold before completion sends a very strong message about the confidence in Humber Quays and Hull in general." Picture: Terry Carrott.
