Hall's new garden
Mayor of Doncaster Martin Winter and Katherine Bolton of the Friends of Cusworth Hall look around a new garden in the hall's grounds.
The mayor opened Lady Isabella's Garden – a rose garden was on the site during the time of Lady Isabella Battie-Wrightson – to mark the first anniversary of the restoration of the Grade I-listed Georgian country house at Cusworth, Doncaster.
It closed to the public for two years while undergoing a £7.5m renovation project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and reopened last May.
Mayor Winter said: "Cusworth Hall, Museum and Park is one of the borough's historical and cultural gems.
"I am delighted to be celebrating the enjoyment that our residents
and visitors have experienced at Cusworth over the last year and to be looking ahead to an equally action-packed programme of events for the
year ahead.
"Opening this rose garden marks our continued dedication to the ongoing preservation of this magnificent estate for future generations to enjoy for many years to come."
Cusworth Hall is open to the public free of charge and houses social history collections which illustrate the ways in which life has changed in the last two centuries.
