A SCHEME to give unemployed people experience of working in the health service has helped 200 people back into work.

The project, run by Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, was launched two years ago and provides work experience in hospitals in Grimsby and Scunthorpe.

A total of 139 people have since got jobs with the trust and a further 61 are working outside the NHS.

Participants have worked as pharmacy assistants, health care assistants on the wards, physiotherapy and occupational health assistants and administrators. They retain their entitlement to benefits, receive daily expenses and may get help with childcare costs.

Advice is also given on how to look for work, fill in application forms and interview techniques.
