A crane lifts into place one of the last modules in a 13-storey hotel already changing the skyline in Hull city centre.
It has taken just weeks to lift the pre-manufactured parts of the 136-bedroomed hotel into place. Pre-fitted with electrics and plumbing, all they need are decoration and furniture. Currently the modules are purple – but they will eventually will clad and painted in blues, silvers and greys. The hotel sits on top of a 306-space car park which will also serve the £65m Boom development which includes apartments, offices and shops and which has been dubbed a new residential quarter for the city. The hotel is due to be handed over to the Whitbread group in early 2009.
