Leyla Kirby and Hussein Kharroubi, both two, look out for their favourites ducks on one of five new display boards for the 22-acre lake at the centre of York University's Heslington campus.
Wildlife has been drawn to the campus for four decades and now staff, students and visitors of all ages will be able to spot the 24 different species that have been identified in the area.

The boards, featuring watercolours by Yorkshire artist David Binns, replace older boards at the end of their useful life. The watercolours were first commissioned about 10 years ago, but the arrival of black swans meant Mr Binns had to provide an additional watercolour. They were paid for with £4,500 from the York Annual Fund, given by former students.

Fundraising programmes manager, Susie Fothergill said: "The fund is especially glad to provide support for projects like this that really encourage people to visit campus. Our ducks are a draw particularly for families, and the board situated close to Central Hall is fixed at toddler level, so everyone can see it."
