BUSINESSES can find out how a Hull rugby club currently enjoying top flight success scored its commercial goals at a seminar this month.
Business Week 2008 will get off to a sporting start when Hull Kingston Rovers reveal how their fortunes turned around both on and off the pitch.
"The Business Success of Hull Kingston Rovers", the first event to take place in the city during the w
eek-long convention, looks at the Robins' contemporary business success after the club made the journey from near-extinction to competing in the Super League.
The club's chief executive, Paul Lakin says other businesses could benefit from gaining an insight into how a professional sports club playing in the top flight conducts its business.
Mr Lakin said: "While on the surface a rugby league club might not appear anything like a traditional business the only way to succeed at the highest level is to adopt a commercial approach to every aspect of the club's activities.
"That is exactly what we have done at Hull Kingston Rovers and the success that we have enjoyed on and off the pitch is a testament to the measures that we, as a team, have applied.
"We're expecting a high level of interest in the seminar.
"The club is flying high at the moment and business people are intrigued at what goes on behind the scenes."
Mr Lakin added: "We'll be revealing that and also discussing the continuing development of the club as we look towards the future."
On the agenda for the hour-long event, at Craven Park on May 30, will be the latest news on the development of the Craven Park stadium, following the recent unveiling of its plans to invest £6m in a North Stand.
The stand will include more than 2,500 seats, a 470-seater restaurant and corporate hospitality facilities.
The multi-purpose facility will also house a business enterprise hub and learning centre, which club bosses hope will have an impact on the regeneration of East Hull.
Mr Lakin added: "The new stand is just one aspect of the club's development and delegates attending the event will find out more about our future operations."
