Lindy Hop dancers entertain passengers at Leeds railway station to launch Christian Aid Week in the city.

The dancers – some of the best in the north of England – performed throughout Saturday at the first of many events planned for the Leeds area during Christian Aid Week. Other events include house-to-house collections, sponsored events and pub quizzes.

Katherine Hogg, one of the Lindy Hop dancers and local rep for Christian Aid, said: "It's great that some of the best Lindy Hop dancers in the North have come together to raise money to empower some of the world's poorest communities. It's an energetic start to Christian Aid Week."

Christian Aid Week first started in 1957, making it the longest-running door-to-door collection campaign in the UK. Last year collectors and campaigners raised more than £15m, which was used to support the charity's work in more than 50 of the world's poorest countries.

Donations can be made at www. caweek.org or by calling 08080 005 005.
