Nine-year-old Georgina Berry and other pupils of Dunsville Primary School try out inflatable "human hamster balls" in Thorne Leisure Centre's swimming pool.

The leisure centre in Doncaster isn't the first place you'd expect to see a miracle unfold before your eyes. But the children made that happen when they seem-ingly achieved the impossible and walked on water.

The Waterwalkerz event saw the arrival of a giant inflatable ball in which children could hop, skip and jump across the pool without getting wet.

Waterwalkerz sessions will continue throughout the summer holidays, providing an alternative way for children to get fit and have fun at the pool.

The inflatable balls are always on ropes and supervised by lifeguards.

Coun Patrick Wilson of Doncaster Council said: "The Waterwalkerz are a different and exciting way for children to enjoy themselves while keeping fit. I hope the addition of this activity to the summer swimming programme will attract more children."
