A 19-YEAR-OLD man arrested in connection with the murder of a teenager gunned down as he went for a haircut will appear in court today accused of an earlier knife attack on the 17-year-old victim.
Javan Galloway, 19, was arrested on Wednesday by officers investigating the murder of Tarek Chaiboub, who was shot dead on July 11 at a barber's shop in the Burngreave area of Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police said Galloway, of Nottingham Street, Sheffield, was charged last night with wounding Tarek with intent on July 6. He will appear before magistrates in the city later today.

Tarek suffered a series of injuries in a knife attack on that day near his home in the Wincobank area of Sheffield.

Officers said they have also arrested a further teenager on suspicion of Tarek's murder. He is a 16-year-old youth from the Pitsmoor area of the city and he will be questioned today. The teenager is the latest in a series of youths who have been arrested by detectives on the case. The others have been bailed.

Police believe Tarek's murder could have been gang-related and have urged youngsters in the city not to get involved.

The teenager was killed just a few hundreds yards from where 16-year-old Jonathan Matondo was murdered with a shot to the head last year.

After Jonathan's murder details emerged of gang rivalry in the area between groups named after the S3 and S4 postcodes.
