Around 40 cars were damaged after an arson attack at a Rotherham business.

A joint investigation has been launched by South Yorkshire’s police and fire service after the blaze, which began at around 10.45pm on Sunday.

Nobody was injured in the fire, but around 40 cars at AADL Richford Motor Services in Manvers Way were damaged.

Temporary Detective Inspector Steven Brookes, of Rotherham’s Local Policing Unit said: “This fire has caused extensive damage and we are working closely with our colleagues from the fire service to gather as much information as we can.

“At this time, we do believe the fire was started deliberately and therefore I’d urge local residents to consider whether they saw or heard anything suspicious late last night in the Manvers area.

“We will continue our enquiries in the local community, which will include examination of CCTV footage, so if you have any information that could help please give us a call.”
