A 13-year-old boy who stabbed a 14-year-old at a West Yorkshire school today admitted wounding the teenager.
The defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested after an incident at a secondary school in Leeds.
Police and paramedics were called to the school on February 1 and a teenager, who also cannot be named, was taken to hospital with knife wounds to his chest and stomach.
Yesterday, at Leeds Crown Court, the 13-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful wounding and another of having a bladed article on school premises.
He was due to go on trial yesterday charged with the more serious offence of wounding with intent.
But prosecutor Peter Moulson said the defendant's pleas to the lesser charges were acceptable and he would be offering no evidence on the more serious matter. He will be sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on June 6.
