Carla Bruni Sarkozy topped off a fascinating day for fashion watchers by wearing her fourth outfit by the French house Dior.
For a state banquet at Windsor Castle, she wore a midnight blue silk georgette dress, right, with sheer sleeves, black satin shoes with a peep toe, and carried a white clutch bag with silver embroidered beading, all by Dior.

The look was completed by drop earrings and a multi- stranded necklace, enhanced by her hair being demurely pinned up.

Earlier she wore three other Dior outfits, all in grey.

For a private lunch with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor, the first lady changed into a large rib wool ottoman grey suit.

In the afternoon she was pictured in another light grey wool and jersey dress, with a navy blue wool coat.

In the morning she wore her hair down, beneath a grey hat, but by the afternoon she was wearing it up in a bun.

Each time she wore Dior black shoes and carried a black bag.
