THE jury will continue considering verdicts for the fifth day today in the trial at Leeds Crown Court of three men accused of murdering a father of two who disturbed a car theft.
Rashad Zaman, 21, Rangzaib Akhtar, 20 and Raees Khan, 21, each deny the murder of Kevin Jackson, 31 of Lower Skircoat Green, Halifax.
The prosecution claim he was stabbed with a screwdriver on December 30 when he went to stop them stealing his f
ather-in-law's Toyota. All three defendants admit trying to steal the Toyota.
Zaman, of Apsley Crescent, Manningham, has been found guilty on five charges of car theft in October and December last year and of an attempted burglary at a house in Woodside Drive, Cottingley, near Bingley, on December 26 with intent to steal the keys to an Audi parked on the drive outside.
Akhtar of Salt Street, Manningham, Bradford, denies one charge of car theft in December last year and one of robbery involving taking a car in January. He has admitted stealing a car on Christmas Day and the attempted burglary at Cottingley.
Khan, of Priestman Close, Manningham, who was found guilty of the attempted burglary at Cottingley, also denies robbery involving the theft of a car in January.
Meanwhile, the jury in the trial of a chef accused of murdering a man stabbed outside a pub will continue considering the case today.
The 10-man, two-woman jury was sent home from Leeds Crown Court following the completion of the judge's summing up in the afternoon.
Leroy Griffith, 37, of Ripley's Fold, Addingham, near Ilkley, denies murdering Mark Webster, 21, from Norwood, Harrogate, on April 1.
He also denies assaulting Paul Shaw causing actual bodily harm on the same date at the Fleece public house in Addingham. Judge Peter Charlesworth has directed the jury to acquit Griffith on a further assault charge.
