The Football Association has been urged to step in to help broker a deal between digital TV station Setanta and terrestrial television stations in the row over screening England highlights.
Travelling fans chanted "we hate Setanta" during the World Cup qualifier against Andorra on Saturday, with supporters also singing "BBC" at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona.
The 2-0 win was available to customers of Setanta, who bought the rights
to England away ties, but no agreement was reached over BBC, ITV, Channel 4 or Five showing highlights.
Mark Perryman, of official supporters' club englandfans, said: "The FA may not be able to step in officially but they might want to have a quiet word and point out they are not doing themselves any favours.
"Setanta would not lose any subscribers; they may even gain customers if people watch the highlights and think they want to watch the next one live.
"At the moment they are narrowing interest in the international game, which is at an all-time low anyway.
"As broadcasters they are meant to be friends of the England team but at the moment people are watching the coverage through gritted teeth."
Mr Perryman expects the same sentiments from England fans during the next qualifier, against Croatia on Wednesday in Zagreb.
He added: "It indicates a general concern among the travelling support that their mates and family back home won't be watching unless they have a Setanta subscription."
