Rangers fans fill Albert Square in Manchester last night to watch their team play the Russian side Zenit St Petersburg in the Uefa Cup final on TV screens.
Tens of thousands of Rangers fans partied in the streets of Manchester as their side got ready for one of the most important games in its history. With only 13,000 supporters officially holding tickets, the rest flooded the city centre and several fan zones, specially set up to accommodate the ticketless masses.

But police clashed with fans after the screen meant to be showing the game in the Piccadilly Garden fan zone failed to work. After backing off for a while and being pelted with bottles and cans, riot officers charged supporters, hitting several with their batons.

After one clash a fan laid on the floor and appeared to be injured.

Supporters taunted police by filming them with their mobile phones, while police fended them off, hitting them with their shields and batons.

Rangers lost the match 2-0 after conceding two late goals.
