A 91-year-old man yesterday became the oldest person in Britain to go paragliding, according to his son.
Retired grassland ecologist Reg Rose-Innes took to the skies above Devil's Dyke, West Sussex, for a 20 minute tandem flight at 800ft.
He said afterwards: "It was marvellous being up in the air. It was a gorgeous view and lovely day, clearly wonderful."
Mr Rose-Innes, of Beddingham, East Sussex, who will turn 92 in February, said son Crispin "pushed me into it".
Graphic designer, Crispin Rose-Innes, 57, who has been paragliding with his wife for seven years, said: "We thought it would be a wonderful opportunity for my father to have a go.
"He's most definitely the oldest person in Britain to have ever flown in a paraglider."
Pilot Owen Latham, of 2 Upparagliding, said: "He
has looked at people flying out of his kitchen window for the past 20 years and has always thought about doing it.
"It just shows that the sport is open to all ages. I think it's amazing."
Asked if he would repeat the flight, Mr Rose-Innes, who was born in South Africa, said: "If I get a chance. If people can put up with doddery old men trying to fly. It was terrific."
