Fresh from its exploits parading as HMS Victory in the Trafalgar 200 celebrations, the Grand Turk arrived in Scarborough yesterday to be in port for the Seafest weekend.
A committee of local people, businesses, council officers and councillors has been busy over the past few months to arrange what promises to be the best Seafest yet.
Celebrations for the sixth festival began yesterday and last over the weekend with events including live music and cookery demonstrations.
Other ships will also be dropping anchor in Scarborough including the town's own adopted ship, RFA Wave Ruler, for what promises to be a superb celebration.
Councillor Janet Jefferson, who chairs the committee, said: "It represents an excellent opportunity for local people to find out more about the heritage of the sea that has made our town so special, and is also a very popular event with the many visitors who make a point of coming to Scarborough for the celebrations."
