ALL Sarah Davies intended was to give her daughter a snack during a trip into Hull city centre, but the incident ended in a court battle and yesterday she finally cleared her name.
Miss Davies, 20, refused to accept a £75 spot fine for littering after a piece of sausage roll apparently fell from her daughter's mouth and landed on the pavement.
Litter enforcement officers accused her of dropping paper and because she refused to accept a fine, the case went to court where the allegation was dismissed by Deputy District Judge Simon Hickey. He heard differing accounts of the circumstances from the officials.
Miss Davies, 20, said she was threatened with arrest after refusing to give her details and defended herself in court. Last night she said: "I put them to shame. I think it shows that if people are innocent they should stand their ground and fight it out."
She was approached by enforcement officers Steven Hewson and Jamie Cass as she fed daughter Chloe and was accused of dropping a piece of paper.
The judge said: "I have to say having heard the evidence I am not convinced that the council have made their case out."
Hull Council said it could not give a figure for the cost of the case.
