SINGER songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae has been "touched" by the support she has received following her husband's death from a suspected drugs overdose.
Her manager Bob Miller released a statement today saying that messages of "love and support from all over the world" were helping Bailey Rae cope at what he described as "this terrible time".

Saxophonist Jason Rae, 31, a member of the funk band the Haggis Horns, is thought to have died after taking a lethal cocktail of cocaine and alcohol.

His body was found by police at a flat in the Hyde Park area of Leeds on Saturday afternoon.

Mr Miller said in a statement released today: "Corinne Bailey Rae and her family have been touched by the huge amount of love and support that's flooded in from all over the world, and that is really helping all of us cope at this terrible time.

"Corinne is also very grateful for the privacy she is being given and the respect that has been paid to herself and Jason."

The Leeds-born singer, 29, met her musician husband while working as a cloakroom attendant at a Leeds jazz club. They married in 2001.

Fans have been posting messages of support and tributes on Bailey Rae and her husband's band's websites.

The Haggis Horns, who have played as a backing band for Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and Bailey Rae herself, recently released a well-received debut album, Hot Damn!

An inquest was open and adjourned yesterday into the musician's death.
