A TEENAGER was killed and another seriously injured in a fire which ripped through a garage in East Yorkshire.
Daniel Allan, 14, was killed when he and best friend Ryan Steels, both of Holme on Spalding Moor, near Market Weighton, were trapped as fire ripped through the garage of an empty house next door to his home in Chestnut Drive.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 4.13am Saturday, Humberside Police said. Firefighters found Daniel's body inside.

Ryan, 14, who neighbours say had been staying at his friend's home recently, remains in a critical condition at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.

It is understood the pair had been with a number of other teenagers who had been camping in nearby fields but retreated to the garage to escape the cold.

The cause of the fire is not yet known but the incident is being treated as suspicious. Two people have been arrested but have been bailed without charge as investigations continue.

Shocked residents, who have been laying floral tributes at Daniel's home, have been urged to help police with their inquiry.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Oliver said: "We are still trying to find out where Daniel and Ryan were from 10pm on Friday until the fire on Saturday morning.

"We also need to know who they were with on Friday evening and Saturday morning at about 4am.

"Specially trained family liaison officers are with the families at this time."
