THOUSANDS of people have taken part in a half marathon in Leeds to raise funds for charity.
The Gaz de France half marathon attracted 5,100 runners and took in a 13.1 mile course through the city centre. There was also a 1.5 mile family fun run.
Everyone taking part was asked to raise money for this year's official charity, Andrea's Gift,
a Yorkshire-based charity funding research into brain tumours.
Founded in 2003 it has raised over £500,000 to support people affected by brain tumours in the county, primarily those who have received treatment through Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
Coun John Procter, Leeds' executive member for leisure, said before the race: "It will be great to see the thousands of people taking part in the half-marathon and their supporters urging everybody on.''
The winner of the half marathon for men and women each received £500 in prize money.
The first man and woman from the Leeds local authority area, or from a Leeds club, received £200 in prize money.
