A YORK-based trains firm has apologised to passengers after problems on its direct rail service from the North East to London.
Grand Central has imposed a contingency timetable, following major failures with its power car fleet.
The move comes just weeks after the company unveiled its full timetable of services between Sunderland and King's Cross.
A spokesman said: "We
are working with those responsible and other repairers to get the necessary work done."
Under the temporary new timetable, the operator has cancelled its 0804 service from London to Sunderland. Staff are advising customers to use an alternative 8am service with National Express.
The 11.27am service from the capital will terminate at York at 1.19pm. Passengers for Thirsk, Northallerton and stations to Sunderland will be transferred to buses.
The 12.30pm service from Sunderland to Kings Cross will start from York at 2.30pm, with buses used to bring passengers from Sunderland, Hartlepool and Eaglescliffe stations, and is due to arrive at King's Cross at 4.30pm.
The 1650 London Kings Cross service to Sunderland will run, unchanged, but the 5.30pm Sunderland to Kings Cross train has been cancelled. Alternative services with National Express are available.
