A woman has been arrested after sending inappropriate text messages to a pupil at an East Yorkshire school.
The 25-year-old woman, who is an assistant at the school, has also been suspended while police and council staff carry out an investigation into the allegations.
Two former teachers from the same school have been jailed in recent years for having
affairs with pupils, while a third was convicted for a relationship which happened after he left the school.
Today, a Humberside Police spokeswoman said: "Humberside Police are aware of allegations and have now launched an investigation in conjunction with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
"A 25-year-old Bridlington woman has been arrested and released on police bail pending further inquiries."
It is understood the allegations concern a breach of position by the school staff member.
A spokeswoman for the East Riding of Yorkshire Council confirmed the woman had been suspended.
She said: "A member of staff at an East Riding school is currently suspended pending an investigation.
"We will not be making any further statement until the investigation has concluded."
Philip Holmes, assistant director of children and young people's services, added: "The school has acted swiftly and appropriately to deal with this issue."
In the last two years, science teacher Steven Edwards and art teacher Ian Blott were both jailed for having affairs with pupils at the school.
In January this year, IT teacher Terry Mann received a suspended sentence for a relationship he began with a pupil when he moved from this school to a different establishment.
Hull Crown Court heard he had previously confessed to his wife that he had been having an affair with a girl at his former school.
