'Aggressive' man 'repeatedly spat on' victim during Scarborough assault

An "aggressive" man followed a couple before he repeatedly spat on one of them during an assailt.

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information about the incident Scarborough town centre.

It happened on Huntriss Row at 6.10pm hours Saturday, May 6 where a man and a woman were pursued by an "aggressive male". The couple were assaulted in the car park outside the Palm Court Hotel.

The culprit repeatedly spat on the man and the female also assaulted.

A force spokesman said: "We are conducting enquiries and are requesting the public’s assistance to help determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"In particular, we are appealing to the member of the public who checked on the couple’s welfare once the known offender had fled to make contact with police."
