10-day detox aims to halt dependence
People with drink problems will benefit from a new alcohol advisory service in York to help sufferers face up to a new year.
The alcohol detoxification and therapy programme is being provided by The Retreat – a specialist mental health provider in the city – in a newly-refurbished unit.
The 10-day intensive detox programme can also be followed by a 28-day therapy programme which aims to get to the bottom of the drink problem and help people cope.
Retreat nursing director Maggie Scott said: "Drinking too much can lead to a physical and mental dependence on alcohol and the only effective remedy is to stop completely."
