Beekeeping secrets revealed at park
VISITORS to a North Lincolnshire country park can learn some of the secrets of beekeeping during a wildlife open day at the weekend.
Edwin Clark, from the Lincolnshire Beekeepers' Association, will give a talk on how to keep bees at Waters Edge Country Park, which has its own bee hive, in Barton on Sunday .
Willow Falconry will also be staging handling sessions with their birds of prey, including a barn owl, tawny owl and an eagle owl.
Other outdoor activities for families will include bug hunting, pond dipping, and a nature trail.
Other organisations taking part include the RSPB, Buglife, Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Lincolnshire Badger Group, and Lincolnshire Bat Group.
Coun Mark Kirk, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said the day would be informative and fun."Wildlife Day at Waters Edge always proves a big hit with people of all ages. It gives wildlife and conservation groups a chance to show the work they do and provides lots of great activities for all the family to enjoy."
Organised events will be from 10am to 5pm. Admission to the country park and visitor centre, on Maltkiln Road, is free but some activities carry a small charge.
