Bloggers rally to sacked secretary
Kathryn Moore BLOGGERS from across the world have rallied to support a Yorkshire secretary who was sacked because her Paris employer objected to her internet diary of daily home and office life.
The story, reported in yesterday's Yorkshire Post, has captured the interest of thousands of people worldwide and has been reported in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and across Europe.
Catherine Sanderson – "La Petite Anglaise" to 3,000 regular readers – is launching legal action in France, claiming unfair dismissal against accountancy firm Dixon Wilson, which was never named in her diary.
Yesterday, as news of her dismissal was revealed, her blog "hits" more than trebled to 10,000. It was also reported she had had two book offers.
On Ms Sanderson's own website, the vast bulk of correspondents supported her, but one blogger warned: "You do have to be so careful with publishing these days, and it's a mistake to think that blogging, because it is so easy, is any different."
Ms Sanderson was still coming to terms with the loss of her job, and hoping her dismissal for writing "humorous anecdotes" about her life could be turned into a full-time writing job.
