Body found in river was of missing Doncaster widow
A BODY found in the River Ouse in York was that of a South Yorkshire widow who had gone missing 10 days earlier, police have revealed.
Pauline Armitage, 68, from Doncaster, was found in the river on the outskirts of the city near to the Archbishop's residence on Friday.
Initially, it was feared the body may have been that of 35-year-old missing university chef, Claudia Lawrence who has not been seen for more than four weeks.
North Yorkshire Police ruled that out on Friday evening, as well as the body being that of missing 36-year-old Lisette Dugmore, also from York.
Police confirmed the identity of the body last night, saying Mrs Armitage went missing on April 7.
Inspector Dave Sutcliffe said: "The circumstances of Mrs Armitage's death are being investigated but at this time it is not being treated as suspicious."
